For the price, this violin is wonderful. It has a very sweet sound which seems impossible given the lack of a resonant violin body. It has very sturdy construction which I wanted so I could travel by plane with it and use it in 3rd world countries. This will work. With the power off, it has the sound level of a very heavily muted violin which could be enough for practice for some people. It plugs into my altec computer speakers for adequate home sound level. The amplifier isn't really high quality but it seems adequate.
It comes with a quite nice case which it really doesn't need -- I felt that a bag would work, except to protect the bow. The bow is a cheaper bow but adequate for some people.
Hey, this thing is fun to play and it looks really nice! I have two hand-carved real violins but I still think this one is great.
